Gross is the rate of interest payable before any income tax is deducted.

We pay monthly interest. Interest will be paid into your Accelerate Saver on the 1st of every month.

How do I open and manage my account?

Online through your Spring App.

You can open a savings account with us if you’re an individual who is 18 or over. You must also be a resident in the UK for tax purposes.

You’ll also need a valid email address, UK mobile number and a linked UK current account (held in your name) to make deposits in and withdrawals out of your savings account.

You can only have one account holder on this account.

The minimum balance for this account is £10. You have 28 days from the day we tell you your account is open to make sure you’ve made your opening deposit. If not, your account will be closed and you’ll need to complete a new application.

The maximum balance is £5,000. This includes any money held in your savings pots.

Can I withdraw money?

Yes, simply log into your account and follow the instructions on screen.

Withdrawals from your savings account can only be made to your linked current account. This will be done via Faster Payments and usually takes up to two hours.

If we’re already processing another withdrawal request from your account, you won’t be able to make another withdrawal. Once the previous withdrawal has been successfully made you can then make another withdrawal request.

What is an easy access savings account?

Can I withdraw my money at anytime with an easy access savings account?

Easy access savings accounts are designed to let you withdraw money when you need it. While many providers offer “easy” access, it’s important to check how quickly you’ll receive your money. Some providers transfer funds straight away, while others may take up to one working day. With our Accelerate Saver, withdrawals usually take up to two hours. 

You should also be aware that some accounts limit the number of free withdrawals. Some allow unlimited withdrawals, while others limit how many penalty-free withdrawals you can make each year. 

Always check the account terms so you know exactly what to expect and avoid getting caught out.

Can I open other accounts in the Spring app? 

Are easy access savings accounts better than fixed rate accounts?

It all depends on what you’re looking for — easy access or interest certainty.

Easy access accounts tend to give you flexibility, but usually have lower interest rates that can fluctuate. Fixed rate accounts on the other hand offer guaranteed returns, but you’ll need to lock your money away.

Whichever one is right for you depends on your timeline, what you’re saving for, and how comfortable you are tying your money up.

Is my money safe in an easy access savings account?

Yes. Like most UK savings accounts, your money is usually protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). This means your combined deposits with Spring and Paragon Bank are protected up to a total of £120,000 by the FSCS.

Our Accelerate Saver is FSCS protected, so your savings will benefit from this safeguard, but it’s always worth checking that your provider is FSCS protected before you sign up. In most cases, your savings are secure.
